The Embroidery Olympics is the perfect opportunity for people to stretch their
imaginations and watch the skills of embroiderers be put to the challenge.
The second Embroidery Olympics, coordinated by Embroidery University will be
held August 4, 2006. This day long competition allows teams of digitizers and
embroiderers to compete for the title of Golden Embroiderer.
The Embroidery Olympics will take place at the Embroidery Mart once every 4 years.
The Embroidery Mart is a national trade show and educational event for the
commercial embroidery industry, hosted by the National Network of Embroidery
Professionals.
The Mart will be open August 4-5, 2006, at the Nashville Convention
Center in Nashville, TN. The 2006 Embroidery Olympics will be held the first day
of the trade show on August 4, 2006 and will also be held at the Nashville
Convention Center in Nashville, TN.
Each team will be made up of three individuals. Each team is unique and made up
of various talents. There will be three competitions for all participating
teams, left chest, full back and an art piece. Each team will create their 3
embroidery entries from start to finish during the competition. The designs will
need to be digitized, sewn and presented for judging during the 8 hour
competition. The designs will have to support a theme that will be provided 30
days prior to the competition, allowing each team time to practice and prepare
for the event.
The teams are now being formed and starting to train. It will be a great
demonstration of embroidery skills, and truly the crown jewel of events for the
commercial embroidery industry.
